WHEN I purchased r-09hr as being a gift for my son that is a classically-trained violinist and also pianist. Up till now he has used a cassette tape centered Tascam to record his playing knowning that of his stringed quartet and his or her piano trio. I got this Edirol given it was smaller and also I thought it would easier for him to handle around.

What I got not prepared for was the extremely prime quality of recordings the device makes. My son was honestly amazed considering the clarity, frequency reply, lack of static, and open color of the sound recorded. This unit goes beyond an obvious CD resolution (16bit/44Khz) and also offers much more restrictive sampling (24 bit) and also higher sampling volume (96Khz). Does it really make a difference? Absolutely. Even my getting old ears could perceive the vibrancy and nuances of the higher sampling. The built-in microphones are excellent for a great portable unit and in addition they offer a legitimate tonal representation (neither for you to warm nor way too cold) for both the piano and with the violin. Those instruments are challenging to record but my kid soon found that placing the system about 6' away gave a fantastic balance between presence and deficiency of percussive pops or bow noise.

To take note on the higher volume sampling, we took the audio out from the Edirol and also fed it directly into your line-input of a decent stereo with level of quality speakers. We then compared an experienced recording of a new violin concerto towards same music recorded around the Edirol at 24bit/96Khz. This difference in lucidity, presence, audio aspect, and realism was amazing. The Edirol simply sounded much more realistic than does the CD.

Operating the Edirol is incredibly simple. My son located it intuitive and simple to use.

One gripe: the Edirol would not have a tripod support. What you really want to do is have the Edirol designed into a mike boom for positioning. Edirol sells a pricey leather holder which includes a mount - but we wouldn't get that. Quite, we made a lightweight holder with the two a mount for your camera tripod and also a mount for an audio microphone take a position. Works great but a great mount really should be part of this Edirol unit.

Unit comes with a 512Mb memory cartomancy with is adequate for trial functions. For serious reording, get a few 2Gb cards. Since my son are going to be using the most suitable mode for all of his recording, an 8Gb card are going to be necessary.

Overall, I'm delighted with this particular purchase. It was delivered promptly by Amazon (as can be typical), it was in great condition, and it also performance was merely awesome. Very great purchase!
